Mark Johnson, the former global head of foreign exchange cash trading at HSBC, is hoping to take his years-long legal battle with US prosecutors to the Supreme Court.

Johnson filed a petition on June 19, asking for the nation’s highest court to revisit his fraud conviction for a $3.5 billion FX trade between HSBC and UK oil and gas firm Cairn Energy. In September last year, an appeal court upheld the original ruling.
