Are you more of an artsy and crafty type? Then check out Bluprint, they have a bunch of free online classes that revolve around arts and crafts. If you’re interested in selling your wares on Etsy, this would be an excellent resource to check out.
Google Digital Garage is a non-profit program offering free digital learning courses in data and tech, digital marketing, and career development. Many of the courses include certification once you’ve completed them and passed the end exam. Formats include online self-paced course and others are live webinars.
iTunes U has a host of free courses that are accessible via iOS devices. If you have an Apple device, there’s a good chance that this app is already installed on your phone. When you open it up, click on the “view catalog” and search the courses available. iTunes U has classes for school-aged children, college-level courses, educators, and more. One course I found was How to Start a Startup by Standford — completely free with 42 lessons.
Formerly called Lynda, LinkedIn Learning hosts over 15,000 online courses and tutorials taught by industry experts. The main concentrations are tech, business, design, web, photography, and marketing. With LinkedIn Learning, you’re able to access as many classes as you’d like for a monthly fee of $29.99. BUT, they let you test the waters free for 30-days. When you sign-up for a free trial, you’ll have to enter your credit card number, so be sure to mark your calendar so you can cancel your trial (unless you’d like to keep it). Otherwise, your credit card will automatically be billed.
OpenCourseWare is free classes created by universities and other educational institutions that can be accessed online, from anywhere in the world. The goal is to make learning available to everyone regardless of income or location. While you won’t receive a college degree or certification for taking these courses, you can boost your skills and knowledge right from the comfort of your home. Some sites that offer free OpenCourseWare are Khan Academy, Caltech, and the University of Pennsylvania.
Skillshare is an online learning community that hosts over 25,000 online classes on a variety of topics. Do you want to start a graphic design business from home? They got you covered. Or is social media and blogging more your thing? With Skillshare, you can create a custom curriculum explicitly based on your needs and passions, and best of all, it’s budget-friendly – only $15 a month for as many courses as you want to consume! Another place to search for free online courses is Udemy. Many of their online instructors offer complimentary classes in development, business, IT, personal growth, design, marketing, and lots more. I’ve never tried Udemy, but their website boasts more 100,000 different courses, and all you need to do is search for the keyword free.
